Kip is also known for his no-nonsense teachings on meditation & surrender and meditates with people all over the world to help awaken them to their natural state of unconditional peace.
"When you allow yourself to fully surrender in meditation, then peace takes over; bliss takes over. A huge weight is lifted off of you and the real journey of spiritual awakening begins to happen on its own.
Even if you only feel a little peace or bliss in meditation, understand that this peace or bliss is not some emotion or passing feeling your brain is giving you. Understand that this peace or bliss is the absolute. It is everything you are seeking. It is that which awakens you into the highest states of meditation, bliss and freedom.
And if you treat it as such and immerse your full attention in it, this peace will reveal itself to you more and more. The peace will expand. You will feel it nurturing you, healing you and awakening every cell of your being into bliss and consciousness.
The thing is, the ego (that sense of being the doer, the sense of being separate from everything, knowing everything better) places little importance on the peace and continues to search elsewhere.
So the ego must come to a point where it willingly surrenders to this moment.
Life must break you in a way. Something does not happen the way you think it should; or your sense of life seems to fall apart and you surrender to that. Not in a new age sense of ‘everything happens for a reason’ or allowing in some superficial sense where you are proud of yourself for it. There has to be intense depth to that surrender.
To surrender in meditation, you allow all of the thoughts and feelings to be without any agenda behind it whatsoever, without trying to change them, fix them, make them better or even look for an outcome.
Just fully surrender to the fact that this is what is happening, this is your experience in this moment and it is beyond your control. Then just allow it to be without your input whatsoever. It is a surrender of your input; a letting go of you doing anything at all.
In surrender meditation, when your ego has ceased trying to do this moment, and this moment is free to be completely as it is, you will recognize an immense power that is here; an immense power that is doing everything.
It will be earth shattering powerful, deeply peaceful and nurturing all at once.
Then you will recognize this peace is the absolute. That you are this peace, that this peace is the essence of everything and this peace is the doer of everything.
That is when real meditation takes over. The peace itself meditates you. The peace itself awakens you into itself. The idea that you are in control at this point only gets in the way.
Much love,
Kip”
Learning to surrender in meditation is extremely important.
Because true meditation is not something you do, it is something that happens.
