Transcending Ego - Shaking Up Your Identity

Everyday Shaktipat 

"A large part
of spiritual growth
does not come
in high states of bliss,
but in the shaking up
of your ego.

You have an idea
of who you are,
and expectations
that life will support
this idea.

But life is constantly
there to challenge
your limiting beliefs
about who you are.

Say you expect
your spouse
or lover to always
be happy with you.

It is not that you consciously
expect it,
it is simply what you are used 
to happening.

Then one day
they are not happy with you.
They are angry with you.

And suddenly 
this idea of who
you are
in relation to them
gets destroyed,
gets shaken.

Because unconsciously
you always expected
them to be happy with you.

So this limiting idea of who you
are gets shattered
and you feel like you 
are dying.

It is in surrender
and acceptance to this process
that you move beyond
the idea of yourself
with set limitations
and experience a greater
freedom,
a greater flow of energy
which results in a deeper
experience of peace, bliss and love.

But the ego
always wants to survive.
Your idea of yourself
although an illusion
is a monster that will fight
to save itself.

And so you
fight with the spouse,
you complain,
you manipulate,
you do everything you can
to keep your idea of yourself
intact.

All of these actions
are suffering
and when you realize the suffering,
know it is an alarm sounding
for you to surrender 
to the situation,
to accept and allow yourself
to experience the situation
without trying to change it.

There is huge expansion in this.

Chances are,
if you meditate regularly
and are not finding much growth,
it is because you are too good
at defending this idea of yourself.

So know every time,
you react to something,
or you feel hurt
or scared, or angry,
it is an opportunity
for acceptance.

It is an opportunity
for everyday-shaktipat.
A huge spiritual expansion.
