Reflections On Breath Meditation

Breathing Meditation 

 

"Allow four minutes of your time
in reading this.

And give me your complete attention
for the four minutes.

Right now, in this moment,
with eyes closed, sitting relaxed:

Breathe deep into your belly while counting to four.
Hold your breath for a moment
and notice the stillness.
Then breathe out slowly counting to eight
then again notice the stillness.

Then breathe in again counting to four...

Repeat this ten times with me right now.

Give yourself 
completely to this exercise.

Don't read anymore until you do.

How do you feel?

You feel peaceful, yes? 
Blissful, content, clear, aware.

Like you have been born again
fresh and alive.

If you gave yourself
completely to this exercise,
pleasurable peace is the result.

For awareness
is not complicated.

It is absolutely simple.
So simple
and humbling
it cannot be done with thinking.
